CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged a Charleston County man and a Dorchester County woman with lottery fraud.
Franklin Alfonso Grant Jr., 28, of Charleston County, faces charges of intent to defraud and counterfeiting game tickets as of Friday. Alexandria Renee Talley, 32, of Dorchester County, faces charges of intent to defraud, counterfeiting game tickets, and attempting to influence a game by coercion as of Monday.
According to the affidavit, Grant allegedly used images of tickets on his phone that the victim, who originally purchased the tickets, had shared with him. He then tried to redeem them for cash prizes totaling $789.
Talley allegedly stole three scratch-off tickets from Carter’s Fast Stop, where she worked. Store management and records later identified her. Documents revealed that both the theft and redemption of the tickets were captured on video.
Grant was booked into the Al Cannon Detnention Center and Talley was booked into the Dorchester County Detention Center.
