USC CB has Entered His Name in the Transfer Portal
The Trojans will be down a CB in 2023, but still return plenty of production in the secondary.
The USC Trojans football team will be starting the 2023 season with one fewer member than expected, as Latrell McCutchin has entered his name into the transfer portal. He becomes the 20th Trojan this off-season to seek opportunities elsewhere.
USC CB Latrell McCutchin Will Transfer to a New School
USC will be losing a valuable member of its secondary with the departure of McCutchin, who has decided to transfer. He played one season with the Trojans and appeared in every game last year. McCutchin will be joining his third team, having previously transferred from Oklahoma after the 2021 season, following head coach Lincoln Riley.
During his lone season with the Trojans, McCutchin accumulated 22 tackles (17 solo, 5 assisted) and 1 sack. Last season, USC’s defense struggled, particularly in tackling, making it unfortunate to lose depth in that area due to a transfer. However, both parties hope to benefit from this decision.
Fortunately, the Trojans have several returning players in the secondary who should help soften the blow of this transfer. All-American Calen Bullock, Max Williams, and Bryson Shaw are among the returning players. Additionally, USC has added its own transfer in Tre’quon Fegans, who joins from Alabama. The Trojans should be able to cope well.
Since McCutchin hasn’t been in the transfer portal for long, it remains unclear which schools he may consider as potential transfer destinations. As a highly-rated prospect out of high school (ranked #79 in his class), he is expected to attract significant attention.
