Top 40 College Basketball Teams in the Kenpom ERA

When people think of USC, they think of the storied Trojan football program that is considered to be one of the best programs of all time. However, USC basketball isn’t shabby either. The Trojans are poised for success in 2023, and in the Kenpom era (1997-present), USC is a top 40 program in college basketball.

USC Basketball Ranks #33 in College Basketball in the Kenpom ERA

Kenpom was created in 1997 to accurately rank teams based on numerous statistics. Since its creation, USC has been a very solid program, ranking #33 in all of college basketball since 1997. While this is good, it isn’t where Trojan fans want to be.

Standards are high in Los Angeles for all USC athletic programs, and the basketball program is getting close to a breakthrough. These top 40 rankings show that the Trojans have been right on the cusp of emerging as one of the top programs in all of college basketball, but it hasn’t quite happened yet. However, the time could be coming soon.

USC just signed the #3 recruiting class in the country and brings in the top recruit in the nation, Isaiah Collier, and LeBron James’ son, five-star Bronny James. The first step to achieving elite status is getting the players that make it possible. USC has done that. The next step is putting those tools to use and seeing it all pay off on the basketball court. We still have a few more months before we get to see the highly-anticipated debut of the 2023 USC basketball team, but it could be the start of a new era in Trojan basketball.
