New USC Running Back Listed in Top 10 NFL Draft RBs

The Trojans may have struck gold in the transfer portal.

USC football hit the transfer portal well over the off-season, and one of those additions is running back MarShawn Lloyd. Lloyd is coming to the real USC from South Carolina, where he has spent the last two seasons. He will be a valuable asset to the Trojans’ offense, and PFF has also ranked him as one of the top 10 RBs in next year’s NFL Draft.

MarShawn Lloyd Ranked #10 in PFF’s Top 10 NFL Draft RBs

When people think of the USC offense, they think of Caleb Williams and the wide receiver weapons around them that create a dynamic air-raid offense. However, the RB position is just as important, and the Trojans may have struck gold in the transfer portal this year.

Trevor Sikkema of PFF recently released his top 10 draft-eligible RBs in college football, and Lloyd made the cut at #10. The full rankings are as follows: Trey Benson (Florida State), Blake Corum (Michigan), Donovan Edwards (Michigan), Braelon Allen (Wisconsin), TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State), Bucky Irving (Oregon), Will Shipley (Clemson), Audric Estrimé (Notre Dame), Raheim Sanders (Arkansas), and MarShawn Lloyd (USC).

One interesting thing to note here is that four of the top five players on that list play in the Big Ten. USC will be in the Big Ten starting in 2024 and needs to be ready for that pound the rock style of play that they will face week in and week out.

Creating a threat with the rushing attack would be huge for the USC offense this season. Having a RB that can consistently make plays with his legs will keep opposing defenses honest and make things easier on Caleb Williams. He doesn’t need much help, but with an offensive attack like that, it could open the door for him to have an even better year than last.

A well-balanced offense is the recipe for success, and USC may have found the key with adding a talented RB like Lloyd to the squad via the transfer portal.
