Malachi Nelson breaks silence after transferring from USC football
Nelson recently entered the transfer portal.
USC football had the previous Heisman winner and the top overall recruit from the previous recruiting class in their quarterback room this season. Caleb Williams and Malachi Nelson. The Trojans had maybe the best QB room in all of college football, but they will have neither of those players next season. Caleb Williams is going to go to the NFL Draft, and Malachi Nelson made a surprise move by entering the transfer portal.
Everyone knew that Williams would be leaving USC football after this season. He is essentially a lock to be the top pick in this year’s NFL Draft. However, Trojans fans were feeling good knowing that Nelson would likely be the QB going forward. That is clearly not the case anymore, and Nelson recently shared some words for the first time following his decision on his Instagram story.
“Refuse to be offended,” Nelson said on his story. “When people ignore or are mean or rude to you, they’re revealing themselves. They are telling you what’s within themselves, not what’s within you. How you treat those who mistreat you reveals your emotional and spiritual maturity.”
It’s unclear where Nelson will end up as his USC days are now over, but he does have a visit set up with Boise State. He was the top overall recruit in the 2023 class and he could’ve gone anywhere out of high school. However, Nelson hasn’t gotten a lot of attention from big schools. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up.
