Kam Fountain explains early enrollee decision
Fountain will get a head start on his career.
The 2023 USC football season is over, and it is one that Trojans fans are not going to want to remember. USC was loaded with talent and they were expected to win the Pac-12 and contend for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Instead, they finished the regular season 7-5, and they ended up going to the Holiday Bowl. Now that the season is done, it is time to start preparing for the 2024 season, and it is a big one.
College football is going to be completely different next season. USC football will be in the Big Ten and the College Football Playoff will feature 12 teams. It’s going to be a big season, and this offseason will be crucial for the Trojans to get ready.
One big piece of news so far is that 2024 edge rusher Kameryn Fountain decided to be an early enrollee for USC. He recently shared his thoughts about that decision.
“Me and Coach Manning have a great bond,” Fountain said, according to an article from Sports Illustrated. “It was very important to me because they want me to start as a freshman. So coming in early, that’s a big role. That’s a big thing to do.”
It’s a good thing that he is coming to USC and that he is coming early. When Alex Grinch was fired, Fountain had his doubts.
“I was still pretty solid, but I was also iffy about it because I don’t want to go somewhere I feel like I’m not getting used the right way,” Fountain said. “But my mom told me to just trust the process, so I stuck to it.”
Fountain will get a bit of a head start coming to USC early. It’ll be interesting to see what his role is next year.
