Early look at USC football 2024 national title odds

The college football season came to a close recently as Michigan defeated Washington 34-13 to win the national title. USC football concluded their season in late December with a win in the Holiday Bowl, but this season did not go as planned for the Trojans. USC was the favorite to win the Pac-12 when the season started, and this team had national title hopes. Instead, they finished the regular season 7-5. Lincoln Riley needs his team to be better next year, or else he’s going to be in some trouble.

Now that the offseason is upon us, betting odds for next year’s national champion are already out. The season just ended, but it is already time to start thinking about next year. USC football currently has the 10th best odds to win the national title at +4000 odds, but there are 16 teams with better odds than the Trojans. Those teams are as follows.

Georgia (+300)

Ohio State (+700)

Texas (+750)

Alabama (+1000)

Michigan, Oregon, LSU (+1200)

Ole Miss (+1500)

Florida State (+1800)

Texas A&M, Penn State, Notre Dame (+2500)

Clemson, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee (+3000)

It’s also important to remember that next season, it will be much easier to make the College Football Playoff. The CFP is expanding from four teams to 12 next season. With the four team format, one loss could spell doom for the remainder of the season. For a team like USC football next season, a 10-2 season should be good enough to earn a playoff spot. The Trojans have never made the CFP, but with 12 teams next year, it will be an expectation for Lincoln Riley in year three to get there.
