The 2024 USC football recruiting class recently surged into the top five of the national rankings, but things have cooled off a bit over the past few weeks. The Trojans haven’t landed a new commit in awhile, and they also lost a commitment from four-star OT Manasse Itete. During this period, the class has dropped down #13 in the country, according to 247 Sports.

Since deciding that USC football wouldn’t be the place for him, Itete has already found a new home. On Saturday, the big fella announced that he will be continuing his career at Florida State.

Itete seemed like a USC lock for awhile and it was surprising to see him leave for the Seminoles as he currently attends high school at Central Catholic in Modesto, CA. Modesto is much farther north than Los Angeles as it is up in the San Francisco area, but staying in-state is typically something that affects a recruits decision.

USC still has some recruits the coaching staff is hoping to land, but it appears that the month of June was the big hitter for the program. The Trojans still have a very solid class and should be able to add some more members before the cycle is over. Achieving good on-field results this season will also be crucial to not only land recruits late in the cycle, but keep the ones they already have.
